COOPER MADISON -- Maston ''Mac'' Oscar Cooper, 68, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at his home. Mr. Cooper was born in Faceville, Ga., and lived in Titusville since 1958, until moving to Madison, Fla. in 1997. He worked 17 years with RCA as an electronics technician, and 20 years as an electronics teacher. He was highly involved with the development of communications at Cape Canaveral, and was involved in communications during every manned launch at the Space Center prior to the Shuttle Launchings.
Mr. Cooper was an Army veteran and a member of the Hopewell Baptist
Church. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Lavern BaileyCooper of
Madison; sons, Chuck Cooper of Buford, Ga., and Larry Cooper of Aiken,
S.C.; brother, Dan Cooper of Macclenny, Fla.; sisters,Anneita Gilbourn of
Chattahoochee and Annette Singer of Greenwood, Fla.; and five
grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 6,
at the funeral home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, at
Beggs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in
Greenville, Fla. Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice,
1723 Mahan Center Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32308 or Hopewell Baptist Church
Building Fund, Route 1 Box 890, Madison, FL 32340. Beggs Funeral Home in
Madison, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
