ROSS SATELLITE BEACH Mearl Dean Ross, 72, passed away, Friday, March 12, 2004, at home. Mr. Ross was born April 21, 1931 in Pandora, Ohio, a son of the late Elmer and Etta M. (Basinger) Ross. He began his working career as a youth setting pins at the bowling alley in Clyde, Ohio. He then served with the U.S. Army 24th Infantry Division in Korea from 1950 to 1952, as a wire chief installing communication lines behind enemy lines.He next was in charge of the Army Honor Guard at Camp Kilmer, N.J.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as an electrician on battle ships. He also worked as an electrician in ordinance. He was employed by NASA and was responsible for the suc cessful launching of Saturn 5, as well as other projects. Mr. Ross retired as a Government employee in 1994, and moved to Clarks ville, Tenn., where he was a security guard and worked at the Youth Center at Fort Campbell, Tenn. He then retired and together with his family relocated in Florida. He was a member of the Jaycees in Simi Valley, Calif., the Simi Valley Moose Lodge, and the V.F.W. in Clarksville, Tenn. He was a Rainbow Dad and a disabled Korean War veteran belonging to the D.A.V. Mr. Ross is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris L. (Arebaugh) Ross; sons, Richard D. Ross of Clarks ville, Tenn., and Darryl G. Ross of Satellite Beach daughters, Debra L. Ross (Luis) Zamora of Satellite Beach Cheryl F. Ross of Ontario, Calif., Cynthia A. Ross (Curtis) Wardwell of Clarksville, and Lisa Hope Ross (Sean) Tousseau of Canyon Lake, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Gene (Sandy) Ross and Gary (Shirley) Ross, both of Clyde, Ohio; and a sister, Mary Ann (Bill) Butts of Victor, N.Y. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 18th, at the Foos-Klein Funeral Home in Clyde, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2004, at McPherson Cemetery in Clyde, Ohio.
