WEISS MERRITT ISLAND -- Morton Herbert Weiss, 77, a photographer, died Sunday, October 29, 2000, in Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Mr. Weiss was born in Jacksonville, Fla. He came to Brevard County from Pittsburgh, Pa., 50 years ago. He
served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific.
When Mr. Weiss moved to Florida, he worked for RCA at Patrick Air Force
Base, and then went to work for the Lockheed Missile and Space Company on
the Polaris Project at Cape Canaveral. He then worked on the Apollo and
Shuttle projects at Kennedy Space Center. Mr. Weiss received many
citations for his work of thePolaris Project. He was an avid golfer and
sports fisherman. Mr. Weis was Jewish. Survivors include his sons, Paul
Weiss of Mobil, Ala., and Charles Weiss of Grand Bay, Ala.; daughters, Sue
Ann Dean of San Diego, Calif., and Lisa Cooper of Detroit, Mich.; a
brother, Harold Weiss of Merritt Island; and grandchildren, Jason and
Lauren Weiss. No calling hours are scheduled. Graveside services were held
Tuesday, October 31, at Brevard Memorial Park. Beckman-WilliamsonFuneral
Home in Rockledge, handled arrangements.
