Sr. BELLE GLADE -- Chief Master Sergeant Paul N. Teague Sr., (retired), 86, of Belle Glade, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Sgt. Teague was born January 10, 1915 in Alma, Ark. He moved with his family to Belle Glade in 1926 and returned several times during the course of his life. He enlisted in the U. S. Army on November 11, 1942. He
wasassigned to the 97th Bomb Group, Foggia, Italy in August 1944. In 1946,
the first experimental guided missile group was activated and Sgt. Teague
was one of the first enlisted men assigned as Aircraft Armorer. In October
1956 he wasselected to attend Special Factory training at Sheppard Air
Force Base, Texas, where he became an instructor. On July 18, 1960 he
became a member of the 6595th Aerospace Test Wing. During his 20 years of
service, Sgt. Teague received the Good Conduct Medal with one Silver
Clasp, European African Middle East Campaign Medal, American Campaign
Medal, National Defense Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the
Air ForceLongevity Service AwardRibbon with four BronzeOak Leaf Clusters.
Upon his retirement, Sgt. Teague joined Rockwell International at Kennedy
Space Center, as a Rocket Propulsion Specialist, where he was actively
involved in every manned and unmanned space flight until 1975. During his
employment with Rockwell, he received several commendations and citations
for outstanding achievement. Upon his second retirement, Sgt. Teauge
returned to Belle Glade where he was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, farming and good conversation. He greatly enjoyed
sharing memories of his military service with friends and family.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 with funeral services on
Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the First Baptist Church, in Belle Glade,
Florida. A military honors burial followed at Port Mayaca Cemetery, Port
Mayaca, Fla. Pastor Sherrill Tillery officiated. Kraeer-Mixson Funeral
Home was in charge ofarrangements.
