PEDRO
RODRIGUEZ COCOA -- Pedro 'Pete' Rodriguez, 75, passed away Wednesday,
January 15, 2003, at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Fla. Pedro
was born March 3, 1927 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He moved to Miami and
joined the U.S. Navy, serving in Sampson, N.Y. and Corpus Christi, Texas,
as a Seaman First Class. He returned to Miami and attended the University
of Miami studying Mechanical Engineering and Sheet Metal Mechanics. He
moved to Merritt Island in 1963 where he worked for the Space Program for
30 years, for various companies.
He received an award for Apollo Mobile Services Structure for the AS503
Mission from Walt Cunningham and the Astronauts from NASA. Pedro was a
team member and only gave and expected the best. He was a member of the
Knight of Columbus. Pedro got to spend a lot of time at the playground and
pool with his two granddaughters, Katie and Kendall. Pedro is survived by
his wife, Arlene Smilor Rodriguez; sons, Daniel and David Rodriguez;
grandchildren,Katelyn and KendallRodriguez; and five sisters. Calling hour
will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, with services following at 2 p.m.,
at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Island. Burial will be in
Florida Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to the St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1818,
Memphis, TN 38101 or to St. Vincent de Paul Society atDivine Mercy
Catholic Church, 1940 No. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953.
