RANDY
WHITEHEAD MELBOURNE Luther Randall Whitehead, 68 died Monday, October 30,
2000, at home. Randy was born in Winder, Ga., and lived in Cocoa Beach
from 1961-66. He moved to Andros Island in 1966-71, and lived in Palm
Beach Gardens 1971-85, and returned to Brevard in 1985. He received his B.
S.degree in Physics and Mathematics from North Georgia Military College in
1953. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict era. Mr. Randall had
been an active volunteer with Boy Scouts of America. Randy began his
civilian employment in 1955 with Western Electric/Bell Telephone Labs as
an engineer. He was a senior systems analyst with RCA at the U.S. Air
Force Eastern Test Range for the Missile Impact Location System from
1961-66. During this time he also taught and assisted in establishing the
Oceanographic Graduate Program at F.I.T. He became the instrumentation
manager with RCA for Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center Project
from 1966-69. In mid 1969, he became the operations manager for U.S. Navy
Autec Project and in 1983 he became project manager. Randy returned to
Brevard County in 1985 as operations support manager with GE's missile
test project at Cape Canaveral and Patrick AFB. He was also a deputy
aerostat program manager andmanager aerostate sitedevelopment. He is
survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia; children, Randall Jr., Russ,
Laura and Ray; parents, Luther andCarryce; sister, Millie; and five
grandchildren. Services will be in Georgia. Donations may be made to the
American Cancer Society or Hospice of Health First.
