BARBER MERRITT ISLAND -- Robert Gerald Barber (Bob), 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2000. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on December 25, 1926. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, when he
received a Purple Heart. As a reservist, his schooling, at John Brown
University, was interrupted to serve in the USAF during the Korean War.
Bob was transferred from New Jersey in 1966 from the Bendix Corporation to
the Space Center until 1977. He then was employed as an electrician with
the Brevard County School Board until he retired in 1992. Bob served in
leadership capacities in Christian Missionary Alliance Churches. Second to
his love for the Lord and his family, he loved flying. He made many
friends who love him and will miss him. He is survived by his wife of 46
years, Adele; his children, Robert Barber of Palmdale, Calif., Merilyn
Lauffer of Beershava, Israel, Don Barber of Merritt Island; and their
spouses. He was the proud grandfather of eight grand-children. Calling
will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 7th, followed by a service at2 p.m.,
at the Islander Alliance Church, 2450 N. Courtenay Pkwy., Merritt Island.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Islander Alliance Church.
