ROBERT KELSO COCOA BEACH -- Robert Jean Kelso, 68, a retired aerospace technician, died Sunday, July 16, at home.

Mr. Kelso was born in Gervais, Ore.

Mr. Kelso worked at Kennedy Space Center on the Ranger Program and various other projects until his retirement in 1997 after 40 years of service.

He was the recipient of the Snoopy Award from Kennedy Space Center.

Mr. Kelso was a volunteer for the Cocoa Beach Fire Department, where he worked as a mechanic during hurricane season to ensure vehicles ran properly.

He was a member of the National Audubon Society and the National Arbor Foundation.

Mr. Kelso was also the former owner and operator of Kelso Marine Interiors.

Survivors include his wife, Bette Kelso of Cocoa Beach; daughter, Tamara McHatton of Elkton, Ky.; sons, Robert Kelso of Cocoa and Raymond Kelso of Cocoa Beach; sister, Virginia Kelso-Correa of Keiser, Ore.; brother, Raymond Kelso of Petaluma, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. Calling hour will follow at the Kelso residence.
