Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force, retired, 51, Rosemary Hoon, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004. Rosemary was part of the loony Hoons from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the Bratwurst Capital of the World. A con firmed CheeseHead, she was a proud alumna of the Univer sity of Wisconsin Class of 74. In 1979, she joined the United States Air Force.
Over the next 20 years, tours of duty included bases through out North Ameri ca. She was a champion flapjack flipper at Frontier Days while at AFB F.E. Warren in Cheyenne, Wyoming, a computer wonk at SAC in Omaha, Nebraska, and a surfing star at Antigua, West Indies while serving as a Base Commander. Born in 1952, Rosemary was the middle member of her family - Patricia, Michael, Anthony and Christina the older, and David, Lisa and Gregory the younger. After the UW, she pursued graduate studies, includiing a Masters Degree from the Un iversisty of Northern Colorado in 1981. As a U.S. Air Force officer, Rosemary focused on missile support and readiness. Her last assignment was Chief of the Reinvention Lab of the 45th Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base. She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1999. After retirement, she main tained a vigorous schedule as a math tudor, a staff member at Publix, and a member of the Satellite Beach Recreation Board. Her family and friends loved her immensely, and she is missed. Donations on her behalf can be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 16th, at Beach Funeral Home, Indi an Harbour Beach. Services will be held at the same location on Saturday, April 17th, at 3 p.m.
