HITCHCOCK MIMS -- Vernon G. Hitchcock, 64. died Saturday, January 13, 2001,at home. Mr. Hitchcock was born in Washington, D.C., and came to Brevard County in 1962 from New York City to work as an engineer for NASA, where he worked for more than 32 years, retiring in 1995. Active in Masonry, Mr. Hitchcock was a member of Merritt Island Lodge #353, Cocoa York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite Valley of Orlando, Florida Priory #60 and Cocoa Chapter #35 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Churchin Titusville. Survivors include his wife, Helein D. Hitchcock of Mims; daughters, Anne M. Miller of Sacramento, Calif., and Dottie Bernett of Titusville; sister, Carla Jean Leone of Maryville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17th, at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Titusville. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worthy Grand Matron's Special Fund, c/o Cocoa Chapter #35 OES, P.O. Box 1575, Cocoa, FL 32923-1575. This fund will go to cancer and heart disease research. Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home in Titusville, is in charge ofarrangements. |
