Wendell Wegelin, 82, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Florida Hospital in Orlando. He was born August 2, 1921 in Stamford, Conn., to Gertrude Adele and Oscar Ferdinand Wegelin. He attended schools in New York and New Jersey, obtaining his A&E license at Embry Riddle Aeronautical School n New York, then serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Wendell was active locally in the aerospace industry, being involved in the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, and Space Shut tle Programs, retiring from MacDonnell-Douglas in 1986. Wendell is survived by his wife, Dottie of Cassadaga, Fla.; son, Bud Wegelin of Rockledge; daughters, Candace Singletary of Bradenton, Barbara Jean Brooks-Neeley of Rockledge, and Laura Tobin of Merritt Island. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Montag of Westfield, N.J.; and a brother, Philip M. Wegelin of Colts Neck, N.J. He was much loved and appreciated and will be deeply missed.
