Mr. Peebles was born in Oconee County, S.C. He came to Brevard County in 1956 from Newberry, S.C.

He was a painter for Pan American Airways for more than 20 years.

Mr. Peebles was a Navy veteran of World War II and had served in the Philippines.

He was a member of Mims United Methodist Church.

Mr. Peebles was a member of the Literacy League of Brevard County.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Wilma Peebles of Mims; daughters, Iris Zimmerman and Mary Moran, both of Titusville, and Nina Robinson of Norcross, Ga.; sister, Elizabeth Black of Newberry; and nine grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville.
